Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit an internal combustion engine to start with an accurate fuel injection quantity by preventing fuel from being injected until the fuel pressure at the fuel injection valve reaches a normal value even if the crank is rotated.
CONSTITUTION: In starting an engine; when a power source is turned on, a fuel pump 4 is simultaneously turned on. Then the fuel pump 4 is turned off if the rotation of the crank is not detected by a rotation sensor 6. When the starting switch of a key switch 8 is turned on, the value obtained by a fuel pressure sensor 11 is compared with the judgment level stored in the memory in a control unit 3, and when the fuel pressure is above the judgment level, the injection quantity is calculated and the injection signal is outputted to a fuel injection valve 2. On the other hand, when the fuel pressure is below the judgment level, the injection quantity is not calculated and the injection signal is not outputted. Thus, an accurate fuel injection is begun to reliably start the engine.
