Abstract
PURPOSE: To enlarge the contact area between catalyst, liquid, and gas and permit the uniform flow of liquid and gas by filling built-in elements consisting of a honeycomb-shaped laminate of a network structure with catalytic substances in the tower.
CONSTITUTION: The top and bottom of the tower 1 are provided with a liquid inlet 1a and a liquid outlet 1b, and also the lower part and upper part of the tower 1 are provided with a gas inlet 1c and a gas outlet 1d. Also, the liquid inlet 1a is tipped with a distributor 3. The built-in element 2 to be filled into the tower 1 is the honeycomb-shaped laminate consisting of netting substance of copper, stainless steel, ceramic, or a synthetic resin, having a network structure whose surface is plated with a catalytic substance, e.g., platinum, etc., for example, according to needs. Also, the built-in elements 2 are stacked in at least two stages or more in a slant and zigzag manner in the inside of the tower 1.
