Abstract

PURPOSE: To maintain good absorbing efficiency even when liquid and gas flow changes and to prevent pressure loss due to loading by placing cylindrical bodies made of wire net or synthetic resin net parallel to the direction of inclination of a screen.
CONSTITUTION: Cylindrical bodies 24 made of net of stainless steel, polypropylene etc. in which the wires make an angle of about 45° to the axis of the cylindrical bodies are arranged on an inclined screen 23 of an absorbing tower and fixed. The absorption liquid overflows from a trough 22 through a falling nozzle 21 and flows on the screen 23 and collected in the lower trough 22. Then, it falls into the next trough 22 through a descending tube 25 and falls down successively in the same manner. Finally collected liquid in the bottom of the tower is extracted to a circulation tank outside of the tank and circulated by a pump. The waste gas is diffused by a movable diffusion board from the lower part of the tower and goes up uniformly in the tower. Then, it passes through the screen 23 while keeping in contact with the absorption liquid which is in good flowing condition. Thus, it goes up successively and discharged outside of the tower.
