Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover substances in liquids effectively by a solid-liquid contacting method in which a sluice over through as much as a predetermined amount of solid particles can pass by fluidization and diffusion is provided to a screen on which solid particles gradually falling along a path in a horizontal liquid current are put.
CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical horizontal path consisting of the ceiling plate 1, the bottom plate 2, and two side plates not illustrated is provided with the screen 4 of a downward solpe directed from the upstream to the downstream side. On the screen 4, the sluice plates 5 are provided at given intervals. A liquid fluid, e.g., the sea water, etc., flows from down to upside through the screen 4 like the curved long arrow mark, while solid particles, e.g., titanic acid, etc., supplied to the left upper end of the screen 4 is fluidized by the ascending flow of the sea water and then moded gradually toward the right downside as shown by the short arrow mark by means of its self-diffusibility, during which period uranium, etc., in the sea water is adsorbed and then recovered at the right lower end.
