Abstract
PURPOSE: To do flow rate-control in a descending passage with sufficient high accuracy, by forming a head tank part opened to the atmosphere at the upper end of the descending passage, and arranging a water lift pump, from an ascending passage, to the head tank part.
CONSTITUTION: A circulating line, comprising a ascending passage A and a descending passage B having a level difference of 100m or so, for instance, is constructed by a double cylindrical tank 1. A head tank part 2 opened to the atmosphere is connected to the descending passage B, and a waste water-supply pipe 3 and an active sludge-supply pipe 4 are connected to the head tank part 2. In addition, another passage C including a quantitative pump 5 in it is arranged between the ascending passage A and the head tank part 2, to feed the waste water from the ascending passage A to the head tank part 2. The waste water and active sludge are circulated up and down by the head difference of the waste water between the ascending passage A and the head tank part 2.
