Abstract
PURPOSE:To decrease the quantity of fine particles in a sample per unit sectional area in a sample inlet part and to prevent clogging by increasing the sectional area of a packing material layer in the inlet part. CONSTITUTION:A column 11 has the shape in which the sectional area of the part packed with the packing material decreases from the inlet side toward the outlet side and an outflow port 13 which projects downward is provided to the bottom end. A filter 15 is disposed on the base of the column 11 and the packing material is packed above the filter. A filter 14 is disposed at need atop the column as well. Inflow liquids such as sample liquid, cleaning liquid and eluate are charged into the column 11 from above. The sectional area in the inlet side refers to the sectional area in the direction perpendicular to the column axis in the position where the inflow liquid comes into contact with the packing material first. The sectional area on the outlet side which is the sectional area in the position in contact with the lower side of the filter 14 refers to the sectional area in the direction perpendicular to the column axis at the lowermost end of the part packed with the packing material and is the sectional in the position in contact with the upper side of the filter 15.
