Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to produce hot rolled plate and sheet of low carbon steel with superior cold rolling under low heating energy by hot-processing low carbon steel slab at a low temperature, cooling it by means of both air cooling and water cooling and reeling it at a low temperature.
CONSTITUTION: Low carbon steel slab is hot-rolled at 1050W1200°C which is lower than the heating temperature 1,200W1,280°C used for usual hot-rolling. The finish rolling temperature is also made relatively low temperature of Ar3 transformation point W 650°C to make grains rough and soft. The heat-treated slab is cooled so that it is air-cooled at the average cooling speed of 10W20°C/sec for ≥4 sec in the first half of the cooling table and water-cooled at the average cooling speed of ≥30°C/sec in the latter half and is reeled at 480W600°C. As the result, the edge- most portion is sufficiently recrystalized and soft hot-rolled plate with even quality to the width direction without loss of acid washing can be produced under low heating energy.
