Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture titled rod with excellent unifomity over the entire length, by finish-rolling the rolled rod being precooled to a specified temperature, after that, by coiling the rod being forcibly cooled to a specified temperature, and by executing the adjustable cooling for the coiled rod at a specified cooling speed.
CONSTITUTION: The directly heat treated rod of high carbon steel containing 0.40W 0.90% C, is precooled by single or plural precoolers, installed in front of the finishing mill, over the entire length with water or other cooling medium, for adjusting the temperature at the entrance of the finishing mill to 600W900°C; and the rod is passed through the finishing mill for finish rolling; after that, the rod is forcibly cooled to 400W700°C, and is coiled. After coiling, the coil is adjustably cooled at the cooling speed 0.5W25°C/S; hereby, the high strength, high carbon steel rod with excellent uniformity over the entire length is manufactured.
