Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the length of the line of the titled equipment, to reduce the unit consumption of the fuel, and to improve the yield, by performing continuous rolling on slabs extracted from a rotary caster with a planetary mill group and a finishing rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:A continuously casted slab extracted from a rotary caster 11 is subjected to soaking at a prescribed rolling temperature in a recuperative furnace 12, and then, the slab is introduced into a width reduction rolling mill 13. The slab whose width is reduced at the mill 13 is fed to a planetary mill group 14 through thrusting rolls 14. Sheet bars produced at the mill group 14 through a low velocity and largely reducing rolling are continuously fed to finishing rolling mill group 16 to adjust surface qualities and dimensional accuracies of the sheet bars, and they are rolled until their thickness reaches the aimed one by the mill group 16. Then, the sheet bars are cooled in a cooling zone 17 to a temperature suitable for the coiling, and are coiled by a high speed zoom-up coiler group 19 after they are cut to a prescribed length by a flying shear 18.
