Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture many heads efficiently at a time by connecting a nonmagnetic insulator to the formed groove surface of a magnetic substance block and then by cutting a metal magnetic substance layer, formed on one surface of this block, to a fixed width. CONSTITUTION:In block 13 of high magnetic permeability, groove 6 is made on its top surface and nonmagnetic insulator 16 in a plate shape is connected with connecting glass 17 interposed. Next, soft-magnetic metal thin-film layer 18 of high saturation magnetic-flux density is formed on one flank of this block and then unneeded part 21 is removed. The nonmagnetic substance block obtained by providing the above-mentioned block with a winding groove is connected in one and then cut except fixed track width part 20. The top surface of the cut chip is polished in a required shape and the recording leg part is wound with winding to complete a magnetic head. In this method, head chips of any track width can easily be obtained.
