Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a low-smoking, flame-retardant thermosetting resin composition having excellent processability and flame-retardance, and containing a reduced amount of aluminum hydroxide as a main flame-retardant, by adding specific amounts of red phosphorus, antimony trioxide and zirconium oxide as flame-retarding assistants.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is prepared by compounding (A) 100pts.wt. of a base resin composed of an epoxy resin, with (B) 50W150pts. of aluminum hydroxide as a main flame-retardant, and (C) flame-retarding assistants comprising 3W15pts. of red phosphorus, 3W7pts. of antimony trioxide, and 1W 15pts. of zirconium oxide.
EFFECT: A sufficiently high flame-retardant effect can be attained even by reducing the amount of aluminum hydroxide. The viscosity increase can be suppressed. Since the amount of antimony trioxide is small, the composition is safe to health.
