Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily perform rust prevention of members by attaching a metal of less noble in electrochemical series and of larger in plasticity than structure metal between structure members.
CONSTITUTION: A sheet made of anode metal such as zinc, zinc-aluminum alloy formed by a metal of less noble in electrochemical series and of larger in plasticity than metals such as iron, steel or aluminum is attached between structure members made of such metals. The sheet becomes a sacrifice anode with respect to the metal to be prevented of corrosion (cathode). Ionizing current flows from the anode metal sheet of a low potential metal to the structural members, thereby annihilating the local cell of the structural members and preventing the corrosion in the joined portions of the metal made structures. It is equally well to form a conductive adhesive layer on one or both surfaces of the sheet. For example, a sheet 1 made of anode metal (about 50μW1mm thickness, zinc or zinc alloy contg. ≤30% aluminum) is placed between the structural members 3, 3' of the metal made structure 2 and is fastened by means of a bolt 5 and a nut 4.
