Abstract
PURPOSE:Hot dip aluminum steel, remarkably improved in corrosion resistance than usual and characterized by having Al layer containing a specific quantity of Mn, Si, etc. in at least a part of the aluminized. CONSTITUTION:Hot dip aluiminized steel having an excellent corrosion resistance and being characterized by having Al layer composed of 0.5-4% Mn, <=3% Si by wt% and the remainder as Al and innevitable impurities in at least a part of the aluminized layer. It is found that deterioration of corrosion resistance of an aluminized layer is caused by needle-shaped metallic compound expressed by Al3Fe, and that said Al3Fe is converted into Al-Mn-Fe group compound not reducing the corrosion resistance by adding Mn in an aluminizing bath and preparing the composition of the aluminized layer to said composition. Also, the shape is changed from needlelike to granular and formation of pitting is prevented.
