Abstract

PURPOSE: To discriminate the type or the direction of the circuit device by detecting the electrical properties of several pins of the socket into which the lead of the semiconductor IC circuit device, thus preventing the breakdown of the LSI.
CONSTITUTION: Programable read only memory PROM50 is attached to socket 51 to start microcomputer MC58. MC58 opens switches S1 and S2 of input/output device PIT25 via control signal ϕ1 and then resets FF57 and 56 via control signal ϕ2. With this voltage, the voltage applied to PIT25 plus pins P19 and 21 is decided by each electrical property. The voltage applied to pins P19 and 21 is compared with the reference signal set inside discriminating circuits 53 and 54 after control signal ϕ3 is delivered from MC58, and then attached to socket 51 via MC58 to discriminate the direction of PROM50. In such way, the breakdown of the LSI due to the wrong insertion can be prevented.
