Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase a recording speed while improving picture quality by limiting the number of recording element driven at a time, by controlling the transmission speed of a picture signal on the basis of a frequency in occurrence of information to be recorded. CONSTITUTION:Series-parallel converting circuit 17 receives a quantized picture signal in time series and sends bundles of a constant number of bits to buffer memory circuit 19. Here, recording frequency detecting circuit 18 that detects a frequency in recording of black is provided so as to control quantizing circuit 16 and timing control circuit 24, varying the read speed of original 13 in accordance with the recording frequency. Then, recording member control circuit 21 puts recording member 22 into operation at a decreased recording speed when there is more black information or at an increased recording speed when more white information.
