Abstract
PURPOSE: Titled composition which is excellent in flame retardancy and almost free from formation of corrosive gases when burned, comprising a polyolefin, an organopolysiloxane and a specific additive.
CONSTITUTION: To (A) 100pts.wt. of a polyolefin such as PE or PP, are added (B) 3W10pts.wt. of an organopolysiloxane having a melt viscosity at 25°C of at least 100,000cps, such as dimethylpolysiloxane, (C) 1W15pts.wt. of at least one additive selected from a tin or barium salt of an organic acid, such as tin stearate or barium laurate and phosphorus, (D) 1W10pts.wt. of fumed silica and/or carbon black, (E) 1W5pts.wt. of an antioxidant such as 4,4'-thiobis(6-tert-butyl-m-cresol) and (F) 1W5pts.wt. of an organic peroxide such as di-α-cumyl peroxide.
