Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a halogen-free polymer composition having high safety and flame-retardancy, no blooming tendency under normal conditions for use, and emitting no toxic gas by combustion, by compounding an organopolysiloxane and an organic metal compound in combination to a halogen-free polymer.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is prepared by mixing 100pts.wt. of a combustible halogen-free polymer such as thermoplastic elastomer, etc. with 3W 10pts.wt. of an organopolysiloxane having a melt viscosity (at 25°C) of ≥ 100,000cps, e.g. dimethyl polysiloxane, methyl phenyl polysiloxane, etc. 1W 15pts.wt. of an organic metal compound, and other additives. Addition of a crosslinking agent makes the composition crosslinkable with gas, steam, irradiation, etc.
