Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce the captioned device which is entirely free from liquid leakage from the lead wire sealing part by fixing a lead wire to a lead wire takeout port then installing a counter electrode in a tray-type substrate by being connected to the lead wire.
CONSTITUTION: Transparent electrodes 2 are formed in pattern form to a transparent substrate 1 composed of glass and display electrodes 3 are formed into segment form or character form by a masking method and an ion plating vapor deposition method. Next, a lead wire 9 is inserted into the lead wire takeout port 8 of a tray-type back surface substrate 4 composed of glass, ceramics, or metals and is first fixed and sealed by low-melting-point glass. A current collector 6 of net form or grid form is aligned to this lead wire 9 and is electrically connected thereto at a contact 7. This current collector 6 has beforehand a counter electrode 5 and the tray-type substrate 4 provided with the electrode 5 is fixed to a reflecting plate 10 and transparent substrate 1 by way of resin, after which electrolyte 11 is injected through the port and the port is sealed by resin. After the deposited electrolyte is cleaned, it is dried, whereby the electrochromic display device is completed.
