Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the lead-out of lead wires from transparent electrodes easy and obtain a liquid crystal display device of simple construction and less troubles by providing a hole for filling liquid crystal in the transparent electrode portion and hermetically closing this by a conductive hermetic plug which makes electrical contact with this.
CONSTITUTION: A glass front plate 1 provided with a transparent electrode 3 and a glass back plate 2 provided with a transparent electrode 4 are connected by a spacer 5. A liquid crystal injection hole 7 and an exhaust hole 8 are provided in the portions of the transparent electrode 4 of the back plate 2. After liquid crystal material 9 is injected through the injection hole 7 while the air in the liquid crystal containing chamber 6 is being drawn out through the exhaust hole 8, the injection hole 7 and exhaust hole 8 are hermetically closed by the hermetic plugs 10, 11 composed of a conductor and these plugs are contacted to the transparent electrode 4, thus the hermetic plugs 10, 11, etc. are also utilized as connection terminals.
