Abstract

PURPOSE:To control at the same time the shape and the sheet crown of a rolled sheet to the aimed sizes, by interposing an axially shiftable intermediate roll between a work roll and a backup roll of a tandem rolling mill, and by exactly controlling the position of the intermediate roll. CONSTITUTION:In case of rolling a material 7 to be rolled with work rolls 1, 2, axially shiftable intermediate rolls 3, 4 are interposed between backup rolls 5, 6 and work rolls 1, 2. The intermediate rolls 3, 4 are equipped with shifters 11, 12 and the work rolls 1, 2 are provided with roll benders 8, 9. At rolling a material 7 to be rolled, aimed final shape and sheet crown are preset in a setter; the setter compares the aimed values with signals sent from a shape detector and a sheet crown detector installed on the run-out side of the final rolling stand, and outputs deviation signals for shape and sheet crown, which are then inputted to a bending force command device 10 and an intermediate roll's position command device 13; these command devices 10, 13 then exactly control the bending force to be loaded on the work roll and the position of the intermeidate roll with respective adjusters 11, 12.
