Abstract

PURPOSE:To make possible plate rolling and hot coil rolling with the same rolling equipment by installing an intermediate table roller freely elevatably between vertical rolls and retreating the same from the pass line during moving of the vertical rolls. CONSTITUTION:At the time of hot coil rolling, an intermediate table roller 5 is retreated to under the pass line to permit the movement of vertical rolls 1. The material to be rolled is edged by these vertical rolls 1 and while it is controlled of spread, it is rolled in a longitudinal direction by roughing mills. At the time of plate rolling, on the other hand, the vertical rolls 1 are opened to a maximum width position, after which the intermediate table roller 5 is moved upward and is fixed in the same height position as that of feed rollers 14, thence broadside rolling is performed by making use of the turntable and the roughing mills. More specifically, the material to be rolled is rotated 90 deg. by the turntable and is led to the roughing mills by way of the intermediate turntable roller 5 and feed rollers 14, thence it is rolled. When the width reaches a predetermined size, again the material is changed of direction 90 deg. and is rolled in a longitudinal direction.
