Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce the titled container which is transparent and excellent in rigidity by a method wherein a male die having dimensions substantially the same as those of a final shaped product is inserted into a crystalline plastic sheet preformed to be slightly layer than the final shaped product, and then the plastic sheet is shrunk by reheating. CONSTITUTION:After the crystalline plastic sheet 2 preheated to a predetermined temperature in the range of a preforming temperature Ts-glass transition point- crystalline melting point is clamped at its peripheral part by upper and lower submolds 3, 1, a plug 4 at a temperature of (Ts-40)-(Ts+40) deg.C is forced in from the upper side of the sheet 2 to deep-draw the sheet 2 to a depth of not less than 110% of the final shaped product. Then, a compressed air is supplied through a compressed-air supply port 5 to stretch the sheet 2, and the sheet 2 is cooled to obtain a preformed article 6. The plug 4 is then replaced by the male die 7 (which has a volume of not larger than 90% of that of the plug 4) and the die 7 is inserted into a hollow part of the preformed article 6. The preformed article 6 is shrunk by 10-50% by reheating it to a temperature of not lower than Ts, whereby it is closely contacted to the male die 7 to obtain the shaped product (thin-walled cup-shaped container) 10.
