Abstract
941,312. Blow-moulding hollow articles. R. HAGEN, and N. HAGEN. Feb. 4, 1960 [Nov. 7, 1959], No. 4072/60. Heading B5A. A process of making hollow articles, e.g. bottles, ampoules or toy boats from thermoplastic material comprises extruding at least two separate strips of the material downwardly into an open mould of at least two parts, closing the mould to squeeze together the strips and introducing a pressure medium into the moulds to force the sheets into the mould cavity. The strips may be of different materials, thicknesses or colours and a laminated article may be formed. Fig. 1 shows the extrusion of two strips 12, 13 into a mould 14, 15 over a blowing nozzle 16. The strips may be of different thicknesses (Fig. 2, not shown), or shaper (Fig. 4, not shown). Figs. 5 and 6 show the extrusion of three strips 36, 37, 38 into a mould 39, 40 over separable blowing nozzles 41, 42 to form a divided article.
