Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the small delayed equalizer with a small loss by oscillating a drawing speed of optical fibers at the prescribed frequency at intervals of fixed time and by changing periodically the core diameter in the direction of light propa?gation. CONSTITUTION:N pieces of regions (grating)where the diameters of a core 1 and a clad 2 are changed periodically are provided at a position of Zi (i=1-N) in the direction of light propagation from an incident end of the optical fibers. Zi and the period Li of the grating are taken to become Zi=ls(lambdai-lambda1)c/2ne, Li=lambdai/2ne. Where S is an absolute value of the dispersion, lambda is wavelength of light, C is a light velocity, and ne is an equivalent reflactive index of the waveguide. In order to put this device into proctice, an ascillation with prescribed frequency and amplitude is applied at intervals of fixed time to optical fibers 27 drawn at a definite speed through a capster 23 and an ascillator 24 placed on the way. The exit light not having delay difference is applied to the incident light consisting of light of N pieces of wavelengths to obtain a delayed equalizer with less loss and smaller in size.
