Abstract

CONSTITUTION: 0.1W15wt% V2O3 or V2O5 or both are added to alkali glass consisting of SiO2, Na2B4O7, Na2CO3, KNO3, Li2CO3, ZnO, etc. to give finely divided glass powder, which is used as a glaze for preparing an enameled ware. Since the glaze can be calcined at relatively low temperature 500W700°C, gases are not evolved by the reaction of the glaze and carbon atom of the steel material, and foams, cracks, fishscales, pinholes, etc. will not occur on the surface of the enameled ware. As the calcining temperature is lower than the modification temperature A1 (726°C) of iron and the enameled ware will not be deformed, a common cold rolling steel plate with ≤0.5mm thick can be used and extremely low carbon steel is not required.
