Abstract

PURPOSE: To discharge soil and sand from dam reservoir with lesser amount of oil energy consumed by using a siphon in a flashing device for deposited soil and sand in dam reservoir.
CONSTITUTION: One end serving as a sand intake 5 of a siphon 4 is brought down by means of a wire rope 3 from an anchored ship 2 and then placed under the water away from the bottom of dam reservoir. Also, the other end serving as a sand discharge port 6 of the siphon is placed downstream of the dam. Then, the water is pumped up by a vacuum pump and then the sand intake 5 is brought down on the bottom of the dam to discharge deposited soil and sand 8.
