Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for the withstand structure of a storage tank by installing a storage tank at the bottom of the sea, providing an opening at the lower part of the tank, connecting an air passage leading to the sea water level on the upper part, and linking it to a compressor staying on the sea surface.
CONSTITUTION: Air is compressed by a compressor 10 and compressed air is sent into a submarine tank 15 through an air passage 14. Since the compressed air is pressed in from above, the se water inside the tank 15 flows out from the lower entrance 16 and the pressure inside and outside the tank is almost balanced. When the tank is filled with air, the maximum pressure difference of the upper part of the tank is not more than the hydraulic pressure which corresponds to the tank height.
