Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce H-beam products of various shapes in good dimensional accuracy from a few kinds of blank material, by giving a rolling reduction to only a part of the web without restraining the flange of a rough shaped steel billet provided with a tall web. CONSTITUTION:A beam blank is formed so as to regulate the breadth/web-thickness ratio to >=3.5 at the web part. At rough rolling of this blank material 10 to be rolled, a caliber 30 provided with a projection part 32 is employed. Hereby, the flange of the blank material 10 is not restrained by the caliber 30 so that the reduction in the sectional area of the flange is prevented, and besides, the rolling reduction is given to only a breadth B2, that is a part of the breadth B1 of the web. According to the present method, a greater increase in the breadth of the web is obtained by a draft percentage similar to that of the authorized conventional method, and a rolling work with a small elongation percentage becomes possible. The unrolled part B3 of the web is rolled by a following opened type caliber or by a horizontal roll of a universal roughing mill. By the present rough rolling method, a thickness losing phenomenon at the flange is prevented, and a material having a uniform section in the longitudinal direction can be fed to the following finishing mill.
