Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a high quality getter device, which is oxidation resistant at a high temperature and causes no troubles in using, by forming a glass coat of an enhanced water resistance, which is made up of a borate system compound and silicon dioxide, on a surface which touches a getter material. CONSTITUTION:A getter material 11, which is prepared by adding a few % of a germanium-iron alloy powder to a mixture powder consisting of a barium-aluminum alloy powder and nickel powder, is packed in an annular metal getter case 12 which is made of a stinless steel and has a cross section, the one side of which has approximately a 90 deg. curved angle and the other side of which has a 90 deg. straight angle. The surface of the case 12 which touches the getter material 11 is coated with a thin fine transparent film made up of a borate system compound and silicon dioxide. Consequently, a high quality getter device, which has resistances to water and high temperature oxidation and which causes no troubles in using, can be obtained.
