Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the quantity of EGR at the time of acceleration of an engine and to reduce the generation of NOx by a method wherein there are provided a couple of EGR ports in the exhaust gas recirculting apparatus in such a manner that the EGR ports are operated with a certain time delay one from the other.
CONSTITUTION: There are provided the first and the second EGR ports 5 and 6 in an air sucking passage 1 at a position right above a throttle valve 2 in a fully closed state while an EGR valve 3 is provided in a passage for returning a part of the exhaust gas to an air sucking system so as to adjust the quantity of the exhaust gas. The negative air sucking pressure in the first EGR port 5 is directly introduced into a negative pressure chamber (not shown) of the EGR valve 3 through a passage 14. Further, the negative pressure in the first port 5 is transmitted to a negative pressure chamber 8 in a negative pressure control valve 7 with some delay through an orifice 4 so that a valve body 11 is delayed in opening. When the valve body 11 is released, the negative pressure in the second port 6 is transmitted to the EGR valve 3 through a passage 13. Therefore, the EGR valve 3 opened in sequence by the negative pressure in both the ports 5 and 6.
