Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a pigment-deposited phosphor which exhibits sufficient contrast effect and in which a lowering in brightness is slight, by a method wherein the surface of a phosphor particle is coated with a polyacrylate ester having a low second-order transition point, a pigment is deposited on the polyacrylate-coated surface, and then the pigment-deposited surface is coated with a polyacrylate ester having a high second-order transition point.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of a phosphor particle is coated with a polyacrylate ester having a second-order transition point (Tg) of -10°C or lower in an amount of 0.01W0.03wt% based on the whole weight of the phosphor particle. A pigment is deposited on the polyacrylate-coated surface. Further, the pigment-deposited surface is coated with a polyacrylate ester having a second-order transition point (Tg) of 0W20°C in an amount of 0.01W0.03wt% based on the whole weight of the phosphor particle. When a polyacrylate ester having a relatively high Tg is used, the adhesive force for the pigment becomes poor, contrast effect is insufficient, the average particle diameter of the product is small and agglomeration becomes poor. On the contray, when a polyacrylate having a low Tg is used, the adhesive force to the pigment becomes greater, and contrast effect becomes better. Since agglomeration becomes better, there can be obtd. an excellent pigment-deposited phosphor.
