Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce titled high-performance sheet, by dissolving a powder of a prepolymer, prepared by polymerizing a methacrylate type resin syrup containing SiO2, in a methacrylate type resin syrup and, then, cast-polymerizing the solution.
CONSTITUTION: A methacryl type resin syrup continuing about 5W80wt% SiO2 of average particle size about 0.5W2μ, is polymerized in a conversion of about 3W 40%. The prepolymer is ground to particles of diameter about 1Wseveral mm. The resulting prepolymer particles are dissolved, under agitation, in a methacryl type polymer syrup which may contain an alkyl methacrylate. Titled sheet having welldispersed SiO2 is prepared by cast-polymerizing the solution. The light-scattering methacryl resin sheets thus produced can be suitably used as rear-projection screens, light coverings, etc.
