Abstract

PURPOSE: Glyoxalized polyvinyl alcohol is added to a polymer emulstion to produce title emulsion that is controllable in viscosity over a wide range, and shows high viscosity stability, being low in structural viscosity and high in fluidity.
CONSTITUTION: To 100 parts by wt of a polymer emulsion, preferably ethlenevinyl acetate copolyme emulsion are incorporated 0.05W5 parts of a powder of glyoxalized polyvinyl alcohol that is prepared by modifying a polyvinyl alcohol with 0.005W10 wt% of glyoxal. The particle size of the glyoxalized polyvinyl alcohol is less than 10 mesh, preferably 40W100 mesh in which the powder readily dissolves in the emulsion when added.
EFFECT: Leveling increases when used as coating, and applicability with high-spped rolller and adhesion increase when used as coating.
