Abstract

PURPOSE: A powder coating composition capable of forming composite films having improved phase separation in the skin layer, with good storage stability, comprising a specific thermosetting addition copolymer as a skin layer former.
CONSTITUTION: A composition comprising (IX) a thermosetting addition copolymer having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 55W75°C, consisting of (A) p wt.% of a hardness imparting monomer capable of giving a relatively high Tg when formed into a homopolymer, (B) q wt.% of a softness imparting monomer capable of giving a relatively low Tg, and (C) a monomer capable of giving a Tg not included in the values described above wherein the contents statisfy the following relationships: p+q≤50, p>6 and p>1.5q and (II) a resinous material which is incompatible or slightly compatible with the copolymer and has a surface tension of the melt at the same temperature 1.0 dyne/cm or more higher than the copolymer and a composite layer forming parameter 1.3 times or more that of the copolymer. The ingredients preperably do not contain coarse particles having a particle size> 300μ.
