Abstract

PURPOSE: To open a cross gate in compliance with the descending of an upper plunger tip, prevent the disturbance of molten metal flow and eliminate casting defects such as cold shut by closing the cross gate to a cavity with a lower sleeve which is vertically slidable, and pouring molten metal.
CONSTITUTION: The top end of a lower sleeve 5 which is vertically slidable is abutted on the bottom end of an upper sleeve 3 provided in the position roughly aligning to the joint face of a top part, a bottom part 1, 2, whereby a cross gate 10 to a cavity 9 is closed. Next, the top surface of a post-pressurizing tip 7 is put roughly in alignment to the top end of a stationary type counter core 6 of which the top end positions at a level below the joint face of the top part, the bottom part 1, 2 and in which the tip 7 is built vertically slidably. Thence, molten metal is poured into the upper sleeve 3, and a plunger tip 8 is suitably lowered; at the same time the lower sleeve 5 is lowered to open the cross gate 10 and to fill the molten steel into the cavity 9 without scattering or forerunning phenomena of the molten metal, thence the tip 7 is moved upward to replenish the solidification shrinkage component.
