Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the volume, weight energy density of a battery by allowing lugs to project through slits provided on an inner over of a container, and welding those lugs to connect plates and cells. CONSTITUTION:Piled positive and negative plates 3, 4 and separators 5 are inserted in a container 1. The plates 3, 4 are provided with lugs 17, and an inner cover 2 provided with slits 14 for projection of the lugs 17 is fitted on the container 1. Conductors 10, 10' provided with slits are fitted to the lugs 17 projected from the slits 14, and both are welded together to connect plates and cells and to form positive and negative terminals 11, 12. Then, a synthetic resin adhesive 15 is on the inside of ridges to cover the welded part except the positive and negative terminal, and an outer cover 13 is provided on it to form a lead acid battery. It is preferable that the conductors 10, 10' are previously integrated with the inner cover 2.
