Abstract

1392273 Assembly storage batteries YUASA BATTERY CO Ltd 6 April 1973 16699/73 Heading H1B A method of making a storage battery comprises the steps of: (a) inserting stacks of cathode plates 5, separators 6 and anode plates 7 into the cell compartments of a plastics battery container 1 when the latter is inverted, Fig. 3; (b) placing epoxy resin thermosetting sealing agent 10 in pockets formed on the inside of the container cover 3 by walls 4, 4<SP>1</SP>; (c) sealing the cover 3 to the container 1 whereby the lugs 5<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>1</SP> of the plates 5, 7 become embedded in the sealing agent 10; (d) placing the battery in the upright position and milling out parts of the surface of the cover 3 to expose parts of the lugs 5<SP>1</SP>, 71 and terminals 9, 9<SP>1</SP> (e) joining the lugs together and to the terminals by melting lead in the milled-out cover parts to form connectors 8; and (f) covering the connectors 8 with epoxy resin filler 11.
