Abstract

PURPOSE: To selectively oxidation-decompose only the thiourea by adding a chlorine type oxidizer to ammoniac -nitrogen- contg. waste water in which thiourea coexists to oxidation-decompose the same then subjecting the water to biological nitrification and denitrification treatment.
CONSTITUTION: A chlorine type oxidizer is added to ammoniac-nitrogen-contg. waste water in which thiourea coexists to oxidation-decompose thiourea, after which the waste water is subjected to biological nitrification and denitrification treatment. For example, the pH of the waste water contg. 200mg/l ammoniac nitrogen 0.5mg/l thiourea is controlled to 7, and sodium hypochlorite is added thereto and the water is stirred for one hour with a magnetic stirrer. Thence, this treated water is subjected to biological nitrification treatment. Thereby, the oxidation decomposition of ammoniac nitrogen is minimized, and only the thiourea is selectively oxidation-decomposed.
