Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve durability and response, by adding the ligand having the coordinate function for the metal to the electrolyte and by treating the surface of the counter electrode by the substance including metallic elements which can be coordinated with the ligand, for the purpose of enhancing the ion conductivity of the organic-matter electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:The chelating agent such as acetyl acetone, thiosalicylic acid, and ethylenediamine is used as the ligand and is added to the organic-matter electrolyte such as polyvinyl butyral and polyacrylic acid. Conductive materials such as In2O3 and Sn2O are vapor-deposited onto the transparent substrate consisting of glass or the like in vacuum to form a counter electrode, and the surface of this counter electrode is treated by the substance containing transition metallic elements such as Cr, Ni and Co. In respect to the treatment method, the counter electrode is dried or heated after vacuum vapor-deposition or coating. The said electrolyte with the ligand added is held between this counter electrode plate and the substrate where the EC matter such as WO3 is vapor-deposited onto the counter electrode plate in vacuum.
