Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform descaling which is more effective than using fluorine nitrate without heating the electrolytic bath, by performing the anode electrolysis by using a stainless sheet as an anode and moving by sliding a polishing tool relatively on the surface of the stainless sheet.
CONSTITUTION: Stainless sheet 2 is fed to the direction A through upper side of electrolytic tank 1 containing usual pickling liquid by means of a pair of current supplying rolls 5 and 5'. A pair of the first polishing roll 3 at the bottom and back- up roll 3' at the top, and another pair of the second polishing roll 6 at the top and back-up roll 6' at the bottom are installed above tank 1, and stainless sheet 2 is slid between each pair of rolls. The anodic electrolysis is performed by using current supplying rolls 5 and 5' as the anode, polishing rolls 3 and 6 as the cathode, and by jetting the electrolyte through nozzle 4 by means of pump P. In this way, eluded ions, such as Fe3+, Cr6+, Ni2+, etc., in the vicinity of sheet 2 surface are diffused and removed, and the oxidized film is polished and removed by the polishing action. Moreover, an electrically nonconductive and porous synthetic resin fiber is used for the surface of polishing rolls 3 and 6.
