Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a toner with superior triboelectric charging characteristics, moisture resistance, etc. by dipping core particles formed by polymn. in a soln. of a resin in a solvent slightly dissolving the particles and drying the particles to coat them with the resin or further sticking hydrophobic silica to the resin coats. CONSTITUTION:Core particles formed by the (co)polymn. of styrene, acrylate or the like are mixed with a soln. of styrene resin, olefinic hydrocarbon resin, terpene resin or other resin in a solvent such as aliphatic hydrocarbon or isoparaffin slightly dissolving the particles, and the mixture is dried to obtain a toner coated with the resin by 0.1-10wt% to the total amount of the toner. By dispersing hydrophobic fine silica powder in the resin soln. and adding said core particles to the dispersion, the silica powder is further stuck by 0.1-10wt% to the total amount of the toner as required. The resulting toner is proof against moisture and has superior triboelectric charging characteristics.
