Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the quantity of consumed heat and form the worked articles of good quality free from any crack by forming a preheating beam and a working beam from a single laser beam, and working the work while preheating the same. CONSTITUTION:The basic beam 2 applied from a laser device 1 is bisected and separated to beam 2' which transmits through a semitransparent optical mirror 7 and advances rectilinear and a beam 2'' which reflects by being bent at a right angle by said mirror 7. The former is used for preheating and the latter for working, respectively. The two beams 2', 2'' are further conducted to the work 5 via a reflection mirror 8, whereby the laser beam for preheating is supplied continuously. In the case, of working, the beam 2'' is focused by a condensing lens 10, and is irradiated to the work 5, whereby it is worked. By the above, the need for any electric furnace is eliminated, the quantity of consumed heat is reduced owing to feasibility of local heating, and preheating is accomplished in a short time.
