Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the boundary part of laser peripheral part gentle and improve the mechanical strength of weld zone by attenuating the intensity distribution in the peripheral part of the laser beam radiated to the works. CONSTITUTION:The laser beam L oscillated from a laser oscillator 1 is shielded or scattered of part of its peripheral part by a transmission quantity adjusting plate 9, by which the boundary portion of the beam L is gradually weakened. Because of this, the laser beam L radiated to the works 7, 8 through a condenser lens 6 becomes a condensed spot of the blurred peripheral part. Hence, the boundary line of the fusion part and non-fusion part of the works 7, 8 may be blurred; in addition, the recess to be formed in the worked surface 7 becomes less and the surface of the weld zone is smoothly finished.
