Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain uniform quenching hardened layer without developing tempering softened part by relatively shifting while facing a laser beam gun of multi-mode and a material to be radiated and producing overlapped part having the specific width in the radiated zones side by side on the surface of the material to be radiated. CONSTITUTION:A round bar or a cylindrical member 4 of the material to be radiated is fixed with a chuck 3 in a rotating jig and while rotating at the fixed angle speed and also shifting toward X direction to develop the relative shifting with the laser beam gun 1 of multi mode, the laser beam 2 is radiated on the surface of the material 4 to be radiated as spiral-state. Then, by adjusting the shifting speed of the material 4 to be radiated, the laser beam radiated zones 6 side by side on the surface of the material 4 to be radiated, irradiates the laser beam so as to produce the over-lapped part 7 having at least >=40% the beam width at one side of the width direction. By this method, the tempering part is not developed and the hardened layer 8 having uniform depth 11 is obtd.
