Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a titled device provided with the function of removing the gaseous O2 exclusively in an atmosphere by connecting an external power source supplying electric current having no negative potential component to both anode and cathode, and providing a means of isolating the gas in contact with the cathode and the O2 produced on the anode side. CONSTITUTION:After air 6 is introduced into a gas reservoir 7 by opening a gas cock 10, the cock 10 is closed, whilist a gas cock 11 is opened to exhaust the gas 8 in a gas reservoir 9. At the same time, the inside of the reservoir 9 is filled with soln. electrolyte 2 such as an aqueous KOH soln., thence the cock 11 is closed. An external power source 5 is connected to anode 4 and cathode 3, and DC is supplied to consume only the O2 in air 6 on the cathode side and form OH<->, thereby allowing the same to migrate and diffuse in the anode direction. Next, O2 and water are formed by the reaction of 40H<-> O2+2H2O+4e from the OH<-> having arrived at the anode 4 surface. This O2 is moved as bubbles upward in electrolyte 2 and is stored as gaseous O2 8 in the resevoir 9. Next, when the O2 component in the reservoir 7 is consumed, the current supplied from the power source 5 stops automatically, and the production of O2 bubbles on the anode surface is ceased.
