Abstract

PURPOSE:To stir an electrolyte without increasing a charging current by immersing a nozzle of a suction pipe into the electrolyte and arranging a delivery pipe in a battery to stir the electrolyte with a pump. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte stirring device 6 is provided to a stroage battery, a suction pipe 8 penetrates a cover 4 so that a suction nozzle 10 at its end is always immersed into the electrolyte 3, a delivery pipe 9 also penetrates the cover 4 so as to place a delivery nozzle 11 at its end in the battery, and the electrolyte is stirred in circulation by operation of a pump 7. The pump 7 is operated intermittently either manually or using a timer by utilizing an electric power of a charging unit when the terminal voltage exceeds a predetermined value during recovery charging after discharging or while the battery is in a normal float use. The pump 7 can be arranged at the rear side of the cover 4 just as well. When the battery is used under slight charging and discharging or in a tiny current, a density difference is created between the upper and the lower sections of the electrolyte resulting in a decline of the battery performance, but this trouble can be avoided by stirring the electrolyte.
