Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently perform surface abrasion by providing a sand-recovering box to recover the spent silica sand, which is passed through a mixing tank and again jetted out of a nozzle to the surface of the object to be abraded.
CONSTITUTION: The peripheral end surface of the front open part of a sand-recovering box 12 is contacted with a part of the outer surface of an underwater structure 11. Silica sand 2 is mixed with water in a mixing tank 4 by a stirring means 20, delivered to a jet nozzle 6 by a pump 8 and formed into a mixed jet 10 by the superhigh pressure fluid from a ship S. Thereby, the outer surface of the structure 11 is abraded. The spent silica sand is recovered from a sand-recovering port 17 and returned to the mixing tank 4.
