PURPOSE:To enhance the sensitivity to monochromatic light having longer wavelengths by forming a glassy Se layer, a photoconductive Se-Te layer and a photoconductive Se-Te-Sb layer on an electrically conductive support and making the sensitivity of the Se-Te layer higher than that of the Se-Te-Sb layer. CONSTITUTION:Glassy Se layer 3 having <=100mum thickness is formed on electrically conductive support 1 optionally after laying intermediate layer 2 of Al2O3 or the like. On layer 3 photoconductive Se-Te layer 4 having <=10mum thickness and consisting of 20-95wt% Se and 80-5wt% Te and photoconductive Se-Te-Sb layer 5 having <=10mum thickness and consisting of >=80wt% Se, <=10wt% Te and <=10wt% Sb are formed as a surface protecting layer. At this time, the sensitivity of Se-Te layer 4 is made higher than that of Se-Te-Sb layer 5. Thus, a selenium photoreseptor having high sensitivity, stable electrical and mechanical characteristics and a long life is obtd. without deteriorating the spectral sensitivity on the longer wavelength side.
