Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable manual adjustment of sensibility irrespective of the concentration of a suspension, by a method wherein, the ratio of outputs of a high-threshold and a low threshold circuits can be read directly in a Coulter counter. CONSTITUTION:A signal, detected based on a difference in impedance between a particle and liquid by means of a particle detector 1, is converted into a pulse signal and inputted to a variable amplifier 3. The output of the variable amplifier 3 passes through a high level threshold circuit 4 and a low level threshold circuit 5, and is converted into an analogue voltage as the number of particles per unit time by frequency-voltage converters 6 and 7. After the voltage at the high level side is amplified by an amplifier 8, the two analogue voltages are compared by a comparison amplifier 10 to be indicated in an indicator 11. The pointer of the indicator 11 also changes with a change in the sensibility resulting from a change in the concentration of the suspension. As a result, a voltage regulator 2 is regulated by hand in a manner to take a direct reading of said point to adjust the sensibility of the variable amplifier 3.
