Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable automatic adjustment of sensitiveness irrespective of the concentration of a suspension, by a method wherein, an amplifying factor is controlled so that outputs of high-threshold and low-threshold circuits are set into a specified ratio in a Coulter counter. CONSTITUTION:A signal, detected based on a difference in impedance between a particle and liquid by means of a particle detector 1, is converted into a pulse signal and inputted to a variable amplifier 2. The output of the variable amplifier 2 is inputted to one side of a comparision amplifier 15 through a high level threshold circuit 10, a frequency-voltage converter 11, and a doubling amplifier 14, and is inputted to the other through a low level threshold circuit 12, and a frequency- voltage converter 13. The output of the comparison amplifier 15 adjusts a feedback resistance of the variable amplifier 2 using a servo-motor 16. This permits the automatic adjustment of the sensibility of the variable amplifier 2 even if the concentration of the suspension changes and the sensibility varies.
